Methoni
- Methoni, one of the most historical places in the Peloponnese, with a cultural life that is centuries old.
The ancient city of "Ampeloessa Pidassos" as is mentioned in Homer, has been, through the course of centuries, an important stop for every ship and traveller towars the East and Southeast Mediterranean. It has been a city renown for its great harbour with commercial and strategic value.
Its imposing castle, one of the biggest in the Mediterranean, occupies the whole of the cape of the SW shore.
Built on ancient walls it has been through the course of centuries the target of every conqueror, Franks, Venetians, Ottoman. Their identity was kept on the walls of teh castle that rise to this day in and environment charged with the memories of the past.

- Finikounda, a picturesque fishing village and one of the biggest tourist resort of the Peloponnese, built next to the sea, practicalle at the break of the waves, in the heart of a bay, just 12 km from Methoni. It is the "Finikous limin" (harbour of Finikounda) that Pausanias mentions. At the area of Analipsis and at the location called Anemomylos, there are signs of an ancient settlement. Sandy beaches, beautiful bays and the coastline compose an enchanting landscape.
- Varakes, Kainourghio Chorio, Evagelismos, Kamaria, Lachanada, Finiki, are the rest of the villages that comprise the Municipality of Methoni. Each one of them has its own colour and they are built on the green hills of the area.
The Municipality of Methoni is one of the most important tourist resorts of the Peloponnese. The islands of Sapientza, Aghia Marina and Schiza that are located opposite the Municipality's shore, have been part of the NATURA 2000 Programme.
